Once you learn how to use SPSS, you'll have access to
many thousands of social science data sets. Northwestern,
like other research universities, provides support for
students and faculty to access major data sets in the
social sciences, humanities, and business world. This
service is housed in the Government Publications
Department of the University Library and is run by my
wife, Ann Janda. After taking this course, you'll be
prepared to use outside data sets in your studies. To see
what she has to offer, go to her website at
http://www.library.northwestern.edu/data/index.html
.
In this course, however,
I'm encouraging you to use various data sets that I have
chosen and made available for your use, so don't bother
to see her unless none of these studies interests you at
all. But first investigate what I've made available. That
will be much easier.
