Farrell Grants
|
- The Farrell Scholarships for Summer Interns are
funded by the Barry R. Farrell Memorial Endowment.* These
awards are intended for students engaged in programs of
study or service in public affairs during the summer
months that either carry no compensation or insufficient
compensation for subsistence. Fewer than ten awards are
available each year, and they usually range from $500 to
$1,000.
-
- Eligibility for these awards extends to political
science majors and normally only to students who return
to campus in the fall. Letters certifying the internship
invitation must accompany applications.
-
- There are two rounds of competition for summer
Farrell Grants. Application forms can be printed from the
Farrell Grants page.
-
- Students may also apply for a Farrell Grant to defray
travel expenses in attending a conference or to assist
with expenses associated with independent study or a
research seminar.
- *On his death in 1991, Professor R. Barry
Farrell--longtime Director of Undergraduate Studies in
Political Science--bequeathed virtually his entire estate
to the department for the purpose of enhanching
undergraduate education.
