Department of Political Science

Preregistration, Wait Pool, and ADD Day

All registration is handled through the Department's Undergraduate Program Assistant

DO NOT ASK AN INSTRUCTOR TO SIGN ADD OR DROP SLIPS.

Preregistration

At the end of every quarter, students can pre-register for courses the next quarter. When courses are closed out during preregistration, the department opens a "Wait Pool" for students who were unable to preregister for a closed course. If you wish to add a closed course the next quarter, you should sign your name to the list of students in the wait pool.

Wait Pool

It is called a wait "pool" rather than a wait "list," because order in which a student signed carries no preference for admission to the class. Signing the list simply makes a student eligible for admission, should openings occur.
At the end of the last quarter, the wait pool was closed on December 8
ADD day

A day at the start of each term during which students may come to the second floor of Scott Hall to add into courses.

For the next term, ADD day/hours will be Monday, Jan 8, 9-11:00 and 1-4:00

If the course had not been closed during preregistration, it has no wait pool. Given openings in the class, any student can add into it on ADD day.

If the course had been closed during preregistration, only students in the wait pool are eligible to add the class.
Remember
  • IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT ORDER YOU SIGNED THE WAIT LIST -- ADD DAY IS ON A "FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED" BASIS.
  • The amount of available spaces will be determined by the students who drop classes during the first days of class.
  • If you wish to add into a Political Science course that meets before the announced "Add Day"
    • go to the first class and announce your intention to add the class if spaces are available.
    • This will indicate to your Instructor your interest in the course and will fulfill any requirement of attending the first class, which some courses have.
