2000 Summer Camp for Political Party Research
Northwestern University

In mid-January 2000, the Provost's Office at Northwestern University announced funds "to increase the involvement of undergraduates in the scholarly/creative work of faculty." In March, Provost Lawrence Dumas agreed to support a "Summer Camp for Political Party Research." It would employ from five to ten undergraduates for eight weeks to develop a website for cross-national analysis of political parties.

Students interested in applying for the Summer Camp had to enroll in a Pass/Fail Tutorial on Political Party Research during the Spring Quarter. It was intended to instruct students in the method and substance of the study and to help them decide whether they wished to commit for 30 hours of work over eight weeks during the summer.

Of the seventeen students who enrolled in the tutorial, nine elected to participate in the Summer Camp. Three graduate students also committed to roles in the project. All twelve participants are listed below in alphabetical order along with the contributions they made. (For photos, go here.)
