To run a factor analysis in SPSS, select Analyze in the top menu bar.

Move down to Data Reduction and select Factor Analysis.

You'll open this window into which you can transfer the variables to be analyzed.

Here, I've selected 13 issue positions scored for 121 political parties in the late 1960s.

Then select Descriptives.
